From “I Do” to “OMG”: Julie & Michael’s Epic Edmonton Wedding

When it comes to planning a wedding, there are so many details to consider. From the dress to the venue, every element plays a role in creating the day you imagined. One often overlooked aspect is stationery. Gone are the days of boring, generic wedding invitations. Modern couples are embracing the power of stationery to set the tone for their wedding and showcase their unique style. Take a closer look at Julie and Michael's real wedding, and find some inspiration and ideas for your own modern romantic celebration.

A GLIMPSE INTO THEIR CELEBRATION

To truly understand the impact of working with a stationery designer from start to finish, let's take a closer look at Julie and Michael's real wedding. Their vision was to create a modern romantic celebration that showcased their love for each other and their unique style as a couple. From the moment their guests received their save-the-dates, they knew this was going to be an extraordinary event. We had the honour of helping this couple convey their vision by crafting bespoke stationery and signage.

Julie and Michael opted for a colour palette of neutrals including black, blush, gold and white, which was reflected in their stationery. Their invitations featured floral designs and scripts drawn by yours truly, plus delicate gold foil accents.

Their aesthetic was carried throughout the entire wedding, with an abundance of florals, in the form of real flowers to elements of the table numbers and other signage. Everything came together with the help of Jenna and her team at Cocktails and Details, creating a cohesive look and feel that captured the couple's vision perfectly!

PLANNING YOUR STATIONERY

When it comes to choosing the perfect stationery for your modern romantic wedding, there are a few key things to consider. Think about the level of formality you want to convey. Are you planning a casual outdoor wedding or a formal black-tie event? Your stationery can help set the tone and give your guests a sense of what to expect. From the paper quality to the font choice, every detail is an opportunity to express who you are. Consider working with a professional stationery designer who can bring your vision to life and guide you through the process. You will be able to rest easy, not having to become a print and paper expert overnight!

THEN JULIE AND MIKE’S INVITATION SUITE

Julie said, “Never, ever would I have dreamed of having a black wedding invitation!”. And here we are, post-wedding, with black as one of the central colours in their entire wedding day! This just goes to show the value of investing in a stationery designer and a thorough design process from the start.

AND FINALLY, THEIR WEDDING DAY PAPER AND SIGNAGE

Julie and Mike tied the knot at the new Pendennis Wedding and Events Centre. They took a leap of faith, being the first-ever couple to have a wedding here! With the help of Cocktails and Details planning services, their day was executed seamlessly from the planning stage through to the late-night gourmet perogy bar.

This breathtaking venue is quickly becoming a favourite among couples planning a downtown Edmonton wedding. The restored heritage space includes the event space on the third and fourth floors, offering a perfect blend of modern amenities and historic charm. With a spacious ballroom, stunning chandeliers, and panoramic views of the city, it's a dream come true for couples looking to create a truly unforgettable wedding experience.

Welcome sign, seating chart, cards & gifts sign, guestbook sign, table numbers, personalized menus, and favour tags were all custom designed for this incredible couple. There was a lot of trial and error involved, and a lot of sign companies told me these gold accents would not be possible. So I hand-applied them to the signage, going the extra mile because I wanted everything to be absolutely perfect for their special day!

Congratulations to Julie and Mike on their wedding at this newly restored heritage space in Edmonton! We wish you nothing but the best as you continue building your lives together as a married couple. And a big shout out to photographer Carlos Vicente Photography for capturing every special detail of this urban celebration centred around their love.
